So there's still not much going on here...

Ok, since I'm really new to Csound, I'll ask a few questions here.

First, I was playing around with GEN 23--the one that reads in numbers in ASCII form from a text file and writes them to a table. Anyone used that? The docs in the manual are terrible. So I had no idea (because I didn't really understand the GEN routines) what to scale the numbers to. Should they be floating point? 16 bit? 32 bit? Signed? I had no idea. But now I find that most of the GEN routines are used as scaling factors for other numbers, so they are all in the range -1 to 1. So does that mean that Csound will parse a list like:

0.0034
1.3456
-0.131
-0.45
0.24
etc.
?

I didn't know what at first, so I just assumed unsigned ints so all my numbers were like:

235
23525
235
32235
etc.

I read this into a 16 point f table and fed it into oscil and it did make an interesting noisy but kinda cool sound, although it is DC offset to all above 0, of course. So I dunno. I wish the Csound manual was a little more chatty. This is getting long, so I'll not ask any more stuff. Anyone have any insight into GEN 23?
